Victoria Lord

Victoria Lord passa son enfance à la chorale, sa préadolescence avec sa clarinette et son adolescence à apprendre le picking de Leonard Cohen. En 2010, alors établie à Montréal elle se joignit au groupe country-folk Jolie Jumper, avec lequel elle fit paraître un Ep autoproduit (2012). Un soir où elle officiait comme Disc-Jockey au Cheval Blanc, Victoria Lord fit la connaissance de Sunny Duval et devint éventuellement choriste et guitariste au sein de son groupe. Six ans de tournée à parcourir le Québec, la Louisiane et la Suisse avec à la clé la rencontre de plusieurs musicien(nes) inspirant(e)s. Elle participa en 2015 et 2016 à la tournée de Mara Tremblay pour l’album À la manière des anges où elle partageait également la scène avec François Plante. Il devint le réalisateur et principal collaborateur de Cars Passing By, son premier album solo, également autoproduit (2016). Une histoire d’amour racontée en dix chansons folk aux accents indie et rétro. Devenue maman en 2016 et 2018, Victoria Lord écrit de nouvelles chansons et regarde grandir ses garçons.

Montreal native Victoria Lord spent most of her childhood in a choir, her tween years playing clarinet and her adolescence learning the fingerpicking patterns of Leonard Cohen. In 2010, she and some friends formed the country-folk band Jolie Jumper. An EP followed two years later. On a fateful evening while deejaying at Le Cheval Blanc pub, she met Québécois musician and her guitar hero, Sunny Duval. Victoria would later go on to sing on Duval’s records and play in his band. They spent six years on the road travelling through Quebec, Louisiana and Switzerland, meeting inspiring musicians along the way. From 2015 to 2016, Victoria toured with singer-songwriter Mara Tremblay following the release of Tremblay’s album À la manière des anges alongside François Plante. In 2016, Plante became the producer of Victoria’s first full length solo album, Cars Passing By. Later that year, Victoria gave birth to her first son and, two years after that, a second son followed. Victoria now spends her time writing songs and watching her kids grow.
