Paul Cargnello «Promises»: The first single off a new album coming out May 3rd.

Today, Paul Cargnello launches Promises, the first single off an upcoming album to be released on May 3rd. Paul Cargnello is an artist who always keeps us guessing. With Promises, he pays tribute to some of his earlier influences, David Bowie and Prince. He fuses rock, pop, funk, and electro, creating a unique sound, as unconventional as the singer-songwriter himself. Taking pride in both languages of his hometown Montreal, Paul offers two versions of Promises, one in English and one in French. Paul wrote the English version entirely on his own, while for the French version, he collaborated with the talented up-and-coming artist Samuele to co-write the lyrics. Promises makes the
promise of a perfect life in an imperfect world.

For the Promises video, Paul surrounded himself with a team of Montreal’s most cutting-edge creatives. He enlisted Nik Brovkin (Over the Breaks) to direct, Toshiro Kamara (Le1f, Miguel, J.Cole, Young Paris, Jack White) to choreograph and give an incredible dance performance, Peña León for the art direction, and fashion designer Nadia Bunyan (BLCK MSSN) for styling.

Last year, Paul Cargnello marked his 20 years in the music industry. He is currently in the studio fine-tuning his new album which will be launched May 3rd. Paul is passionate, determined, and unconventional. He knows how to survive on creativity and hard work. Paul built his own studio, Upper China, where he records his own albums and produces other artists and bands. He’s a master of the DIY mantra, involved at every level of creation from songwriting, to producing and engineering, to graphic design and promotion. He’s an artist who has always forged his own path, and we love him for it.

« Notre travail prend tout son sens grâce aux artistes : des passionnés, communicateurs d’émotions peignant des tableaux sonores qui nous font voyager. À nous de les exposer et les faire rayonner! »

- Jean-François Blanchet, président
