After months in the studio, country singer Robby Johnson returns with a new single, « Shady, » which could end up the Summer Anthem of 2015. The song is expected to be included on his debut album, Don’t Look Back, which is produced by James Stroud (Tim McGraw, Chris Young) and due out later this year.

Johnson mixes up modern country with an upbeat poppy song about summer lovin’. Co-written by Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally, and Luke Laird, the song’s lyrics are the perfect backdrop to a day at the beach or poolside party.

« The song is about a guy, deeply in love, taking his girlfriend on a road trip for her to have the best of times. I’ve always been a rebel and I believe everybody needs to getaway from this fast and crazy world, not being serious and just enjoying the simple things in life, » says Johnson.

Johnson spent this January through April recording Don’t Look Back, which features a guest appearance by country great Vince Gill. Gill play’s guitar on the track « I Ain’t the Guy, » which Johnson co-wrote. He also co-wrote four other tracks and had the privilege to cut songs from Nashville’s Hit songwriters including McAnally, Laird, Ashley Gorley, Josh Osborne, Chris DeStefano, and Rhett Akins. « It was such an honor to have Vince perform on my record. I’ve been a fan of his for some time and always loved his guitar playing, » says Johnson.

On July 10, Johnson will head to Canada to open for Keith Urban at the biggest venue of the festival, the Stage of the Plains of Abraham, at the 48th Festival d’ete de Quebec. This year marks the first time the event organizers have included a country night on the main stage of the festival. The festival, which runs from July 9-19, is one of North America’s largest outdoor music events having drawn crowds of up to 120,000 fans of all genres of music.

« Notre travail prend tout son sens grâce aux artistes : des passionnés, communicateurs d’émotions peignant des tableaux sonores qui nous font voyager. À nous de les exposer et les faire rayonner! »
